This is a themed project we entered for the W.I. at the Cheshire Show, the first time our W.I. had entered into the Craft section and we WON a first prize. The theme was Far Horizens, I made the silk bonsai tree, Kathleen did the decorated goose egg and Leslie did the beaded cross stitch.
I was our village W.I. Secretary at the time and Leslie the President.
We had to make the project in a set shape and size, I used dolls house woods for the window markings, greasepoof paper for the translucent window and black card for the silhouette. We went around the shops testing the fabric for draping, everyone thought we wanted it for a wedding dress.
A lovely finished display we were proud of, even before we won.
